The Opportunities: How to Amplify Our Voices
We are already using our voices to speak out, but we need to get louder. What better way than bringing in more voices? Read below to see all the ways we can empower other people to take direct action, hold their elected officials accountable, and vote in every election.
I’ve included ways to be involved nationally, but the opportunities for my home state of North Carolina are listed first. Even if you don’t live in North Carolina, consider helping us out! Politics in North Carolina are a microcosm of the power struggle between MAGA Republicans and the rest of us. For our state and for the sake of the whole country, help us out wherever you live! But even we North Carolinians can look across our borders, so I also encourage people to use their activist energy for other states as well. NOTE: Starred Actions (*) are Virtual

PART 1: NORTH CAROLINA
Building the Resistance and the Democratic Party: Phone Banks
Amplify your voice by inviting voters across NC to join us in holding Congress and the NC state legislature accountable. For information about additional virtual and in-person events in the Triangle area, and about local groups, check out the Durham Resistance Hub!
* Protect Medicaid by making phone calls with Down Home NC! Invite North Carolinians impacted by potential loss of Medicaid to call their Congress members and get involved. Receive deep canvassing training and make calls Thursdays from 6-8 pm EDT (6/26, 7/3, 7/10, and 7/17). Click here.
* Phone bank with County2County/Neighbors on Call to protect vulnerable Democrats and prepare to grow the number of Democrats in the state legislature. Call voters in critical districts to keep them informed and in touch. For the rest of June make calls for Rep. Pittman, and in July (starting 7/8) make calls for Sen. Everitt/Rep Cohn. Sign up here.
* Phone bank with the NC Democratic Party to recruit volunteers across the state for upcoming Project 100 and direct voter contact events! Sign up here for phone banks Wednesday evenings and Thursday afternoons (6/26, 7/9, 7/10, 7/16, and 7/17).
* Make phone calls to NC voters with Democracy NC, a nonpartisan organization devoted to voting rights and access to the ballot. Join their monthly Monday evening phone banks. The next ones are on 7/28 and 8/25. Sign up here.
Building the Resistance and the Democratic Party: Canvasses
Face-to-face conversations are the best - we can tailor our words and connect to each voter we talk to. That’s how we learn what people care about and what they know, whether they are engaged with political news and elections, and what barriers they face to voting. Below are opportunities to canvass with organizations that either serve the entire state or work in multiple counties.
A note about the NC court races in 2026. We need to re-elect Justice Anita Earls to the NC Supreme Court and re-elect/elect Democrats to three seats on the Court of Appeals. Winning these seats will position Democrats to retake the court in 2028, so we can protect public education, healthcare access, voting rights, and fair redistricting.
Canvass with the Democratic County Parties. Local county Democratic Parties are holding events across the state. Most are judicial-focused canvasses educating voters about the importance of the courts and asking voters to re-elect Justice Anita Earls in 2026 for judicial races. A few are for holding Sen. Tillis accountable to his constituents). Sign up here for judicial race canvasses with Durham County Dems (events on 6/26, 6/28 and 6/29). Check here for other canvasses across the state, in Buncombe, Chatham, Dare, Granville, Harnett, Iredell, Johnston, Lee, Mecklenburg, New Hanover, and Person Counties!
Canvass for judicial races with Flip NC, a volunteer-led Durham-based group that works statewide to turn out left-leaning voters, reduce ballot drop-off in state court races, and spread the word about the importance of our state courts. Join the next monthly canvasses in Durham on 6/29 and 7/27. Click here for details and sign up.
Canvass with County2County/Neighbors on Call to hold Sen. Tillis accountable and to support Democrats in critical state legislative seats so we can build Democratic Party power (and break the Republican supermajority in the NC Senate). Join a canvass for Sen Everitt/Rep. Cohn on 7/12 or an accountability canvass on 8/2. Sign up here.
Canvass and flyer across the state with the NC Budget and Tax Center this summer. Share information about our policymakers' choices, the impacts for our communities, and the ways we can come together to demand better. As a volunteer in this work, you will receive materials for flyering, yard signs, and more tools to get the word out. Sign up here.

You are already contacting your elected officials, right? Now you can help others do the same! Here are some ways you can boost calls to state and Congressional elected officials.

Together, we’ll urge Republicans to oppose the Trump Tax Scam—a reckless GOP tax plan that prioritizes billionaires like Elon Musk while selling out working families.” The next phone banks are 6/25 and 6/26, 11 am - 12:30 pm EDT. Sign up here.
* Make phone calls with Common Cause to “mobilize voters to take action against dangerous legislation in state houses around the country. * Make phone calls with the Working Families Party. Sign up here to join one of the monthly Welcome Gatherings (next ones on 6/26, 7/17, and 8/21) to “meet other working people with the same vision of building a world where we can thrive, and not just survive.” Or volunteer here as part of a team that jumps into action when accountability is most needed and to support WFP candidates in local elections!
* Phone bank to stop cuts to Medicaid. Make call with MoveOn to Medicaid recipients urging them to call their Senators ahead of the upcoming budget vote! Sign up here for 6/25 or 6/26.
* Sign up to make “Calls with Friends,” a creation of Swing Blue Alliance. By joining, you will have access to materials and weekly calls to action that you can use to urge people you know in red or purple states to call their members of Congress. Sign up here.
* Join the “Please-Grow-a-Spine Training” with Field Team 6! Use social media to hold elected officials accountable and ask them to stand up against corruption. Let’s amplify our messages on social media and bombard them with feedback! Attend a training on 6/30 at 2 pm EDT or 7/1 at 8 pm EDT. Sign up here.
Grow the Movement Wherever You Live

Elections in 2025 and 2026
2025 is not an off year for elections! There are Special Elections, Primary Elections, and Runoff Elections, and we are gearing up for fall elections: Municipal Elections everywhere and Statewide Elections in New Jersey and Virginia, with Supreme Court races in WI and PA. At the same time we are laying the groundwork for the 2026 midterms. Democrats have been racking up wins and flipping districts as people react to the new regime, so let’s keep going!
