Tips for Advocating with Elected Officials
Indivisible is a great resource for learning how to make phone calls, send effective emails, and make visits to your Members of Congress. Check out their 2025 Indivisible Guide.
Making calls: Look up and save contact information for your two U.S. Senators and your U.S. House Representative. Include numbers for their DC office as well as state offices.
Staff for GOP Members of Congress may not answer the phone. If you can not get through, call back, try their state offices, or leave a message. Give your name, full address, and phone number. If you talk with a real person, you can ask about the elected official’s position, but leaving messages (even after hours) is always an option.
Help Others (especially those in GOP districts) Contact Their Elected Officials
* Build opposition to the SAVE Act (H.R. 22). It will require voters to produce a passport or birth certificate to register. Up to 150 million Americans, especially women, people of color, young people and older adults, could be disenfranchised, making it the most significant national-level threat to free elections.
* Make phone calls to voters across the country, asking them to call their elected representatives. For Common Cause, sign up here for 4/29. For RepresentUs. sign up here for 4/24, 4/29, 5/5, and more.
* Make phone calls with the Working Families Party. Join a team to jump into action when accountability is most needed and to support WFP candidates in local elections! Sign up here to stay in the loop.
Use Social Media to Hold Elected Officials Accountable
* Please-Grow-a-Spine Training with Field Team 6!
Let us do more than just ask our reps to stand up against corruption. Let’s amplify our messages on social media and bombard them with feedback! Attend a training on 4/28, 2 pm to do this effectively. Sign up here.
